With a massive wall, (6.5 meters long to be exact), and lack of storage for the client, this media center had to maximize storage without looking like a closet in the middle of the living room. Despite that this is a furniture design job, interior design decisions had to be made. As this was the main wall of the room, I convinced the client to make the photography the focal point, rather than the television, electronics, books and decorative pieces. This media center design provides all that for the client, as well as a calm crème washed oak background for their photography we chose from Karim Mansour’s amazing catalogue (www.karimmansour.com).
Karim’s “Midgnight Sun” photograph, hence the name of the center, was chosen for the calmness and beauty it exudes. When all sliding doors are closed, the media center looks like a wood clad wall with three large windows overlooking the stunning panorama, rather than a media center. As each door is independent, the client can choose to show or hide whatever they desire.
